The Millionenmal compilation features 3 tracks for Traumstation,
6 from KeinZufall, and 7 from Cosa Rosa (the 3rd album).
This is something of a shame, as the first album has never been
released no CD, so it would have been nice to see it better represented.
It seems likely that the album was released for one, maybe both, of 2 reasons:
1/ The 15th anniversayry of Rosemarie's death, and 2/ the release
in 2006 of a cover version of her biggest hit, Millionenmal, by Inka. It
was not a huge hit for her, as it was deemed to similar to the original,
but it does appear to have sparked renewed interest in Rosemarie's music,
and that can be no bad thing.
This compliation was released in March 2006, and focuses on
the tracks which Rosemarie sang on. There are, for example, 2 instumentals
on the first album, and 2 songs sung exclusively by Rienhold, plus one
which features 2 verses by Reinhold and one by Rosemarie.
While it is good that "Rosa Auf Hawaii" and "In Freien Fall"
appear, both being singles and excellent songs, I would have liked to see
other songs than "Na Komm Schon" included. Indeed, at about 68 minutes,
there's room on the disc to include others without removing anything already
there. (And why remove a few seconds from the intro to "Na Komm Schon"?
the missing part includes a clue to the fact that a room has been entered.)
Surely "Her Mit Dem Kindergeld" should have been on here? The best song
on the Traumstation album, in my opinion.
"KeinZufall" is well represented, with all the singles included,
and frankly, apart from the final track which is a 26 second reprise of
an earlier one, t's hard to choose songs to exclude. So, no complaints
here. If you wish, you can recreate the first side of the album by programing
tracks from "Millionenmal" into your CD player as follows:
Track 5
Track 14
Track 7
Track 11
Track 3
The final album gets the most representation here, with 7 tracks,
and again, it's hard to argue with those chosen, although as a Brit, it
would have been nice to see the track with some English lyrics, "Instant
Groove" on here. Again, you can recreate side one of the album by programming
the CD player as follows:
Track 4
Track 2
Track

So, the compilation is a good one, and very welcome, in that
it keeps Rosa in the record shops, all the original albums currently being
out of production. BUT, it could have been better, and it still could!
How about a box set! I have a few ideas:
1/ The original 3 albums, all on individual CD's (Thus making
Traumstation available on CD for the first time!).
2/ As above, but with bonus disc(s) to include the 12 inch mixes,
single versions (some are longer, and different) and maybe with some of
the original versions of tracks from Traumstation using guitars/drums etc.
that were apparently recorded before they decided to go down the electronic
route.
Sound clips of this album are available on the Sony BMG Germany
website, here.
